Our Work Health and Safety Policy is founded on a strong commitment to the health, safety, and wellbeing of our contractors, clients, visitors, and the general public. This is a core priority integrated into every aspect of our commercial office cleaning operations.
As a person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld) and aligned with the model national framework administered by Safe Work Australia, we have a primary duty of care to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety of our workers while they are at work and of others who may be affected by our activities. This includes eliminating or minimising risks to health and safety, providing safe systems of work, and complying with relevant Queensland and federal legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
Contractor Responsibilities
All Contractors are required to take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions or omissions. In particular, employees must:
- Report all incidents, injuries, near misses, hazards, and unsafe conditions immediately to their supervisor.
- Report any damage to property or equipment without delay.
- Use required safety equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE), and protective clothing as instructed and where necessary for the task (e.g., gloves, safety footwear, or eye protection when handling cleaning chemicals or equipment).
- Follow all reasonable safety instructions and directions from supervisors.
- Maintain clean, tidy, and safe work areas, including ensuring floors are free from slip hazards (such as wet surfaces or spills) during and after cleaning.
- Cooperate with any reasonable work health and safety policy or procedure.
Supervisor’s Role
Supervisors play a key role in ensuring compliance and fostering a safe working environment. Such as:
- Ensure full compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld), Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 (Qld), relevant codes of practice (including those for hazardous chemicals and manual tasks), and all applicable state and federal requirements.
- Ensure that there is safe access to and from client sites.
- To communicate safe work methods and procedures tailored to commercial office cleaning tasks (e.g., safe handling of chemicals, equipment use, and slip/trip prevention).
- Participate in the careful selection, induction, and placement contractors to ensure they can perform their duties safely and with appropriate motivation in a low-risk environment.
- Ensure contractors understand and consistently apply safe procedures in all aspects of their work, including chemical safety data sheets (SDS), risk controls, and emergency responses.
- Provide ongoing on-site training, supervision, and monitoring to reinforce safe practices.
- Ensure Contractors are trained on safety rules, the importance of safe working practices, and their duty to take reasonable care.
Management Commitment
Our management team demonstrates active leadership in health and safety through regular site visits by the Staff Manager, direct engagement with clients on safety matters, and availability for consultation at all times. We view accidents, injuries, or damage to equipment and property as preventable sources of harm, suffering, and unnecessary cost. Effective risk control is therefore essential.
We promote a collaborative team approach to safety, requiring full cooperation from all supervisors, contractors, and clients to prevent incidents and maintain high standards. This includes consulting workers on health and safety matters that affect them, as required under the Act, and continuously improving our systems through risk assessments, training, and review.
By adhering to these principles and legal obligations, we aim to create a workplace free from unacceptable risks, protect everyone involved in or affected by our services, and deliver professional, reliable commercial office cleaning in full compliance with Queensland and national work health and safety laws.
